Pia Davis
about the photos...
Capturing patterns and saturated colors on film has been a quest of Pias for many years, particularly in flowers and landscapes. More recently, her exploration of art glass through a macro lens has yielded uniquely beautiful perspectives of glass and color, resulting in great richness and unusual, magical topographies.
My photography is a labor of love. I am always in search of the beauty of nature and, in the glass collection, my mission is to capture nature as interpreted by man.
Pia alternates between 35mm equipment, using a Nikon FA with a Vivitar macro lens or a Nikon Zoom Macro lens, and medium format equipment, using a Hasselblad 202FA body with a 110 FE lens and various extension tubes. A self-taught photographer, she prefers shooting in natural light. Slides are scanned at high resolution, resulting in a precise rendering on giclee prints, using archival materials. Various sizes are available.
Her work has been exhibited in Europe, the US and Israel.
